Lucy Liu, an American voice actor, producer and singer, is also an accomplished actor. She's a beautiful, skilled actress that has inspired numerous Asian actors to make it in Hollywood. Following a string of appearances in popular TV series her name was a household name after being cast on the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. Her new-found fame was translated into roles for the big screen, in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels as well as other movies. She then delivered an outstanding performance in the role of Japanese criminal O'Ren Ishii as part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. In addition, she played lead characters in failed box office films such as Rise: Blood Hunter. She then began to voice characters from animated films such as Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason's character as a character in Cashmere Mafia, a small screen movie, did not produce positive results. Southland is a critically-acclaimed series of police dramas which included Liu in multiple role, allowed her to reaffirm her status as a performer. Liu is careful when choosing roles in order to avoid being a stereotype within an industry which is extremely competitive. Liu has acknowledged her Chinese heritage, however she has not let them restrict her creativity.
