Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist television host, and proprietor of the online, independent news magazine The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she came to England when she was just 16 after which she graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected the president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. She joined the conservative syndicated journalist after graduating as well. When The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform for voice that gave criticisms of the political landscape. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors who shared their opinions on politics, news and the arts. Arianna gained fame in 2003 when she decided to run as independently in the California recall election, to take over Governor Davis. The project she headed was an Detroit initiative to make cars more fuel efficient. She was ranked 12th in Forbes' list of the most influential media women. In the same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 figures in media. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group, which also included other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the youngest daughter of Konstantinos journalist, and a management consultant. Though she shared a kinship relation to her parents, it was their bond that helped shape her. As early as her childhood she showed the qualities of a leader for which she has gained a reputation. In her 16th year she began her study within the United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. At the time of her studies she was part of the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first woman and the only president from outside the country. In 1972, she earned her master's degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, and a columnist after her graduation. Also, she appeared along with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing her own books with his assistance in editing.
