April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball athletes who have won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than just her first Olympic medal. The next chance she'll ever have at age 39. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is within reach. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even if we just play well I'm sure we'll be able to win gold." This is also a matter of chance. Ross born August 22nd, 1982 located in Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area with her family. She was able to participate in a myriad of sports in Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran the track as well as her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. Although she was a pro in indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her performance was above normal. The college bio says that she was an outside hitter middle blocker, and setter in her volleyball playing career at high school. As a tribute to her efforts, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play from 2017. But, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. In actual Ross has been a winner of several important tournaments throughout her career together with two other partners. One is a volleyball legend. The pair teamed with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's trainer. Kessy's teammate Ross, who was the winner of the world championship with Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the world stage. They took home a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she announced her retirement. The duo were able to win bronze in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated high school. She had a great run in the NCAA tournament. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. Her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year yet was successful in achieving the All-American distinction. Through her last two years within the team, she guided the Trojans up to the summit by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to witness her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie at the beach and in daily life, inspires her.
